I am an 11-year-old primary student and my school’s vice-captain. I may be young but I want to inspire change. By 2030, I want to see a significant decline in people that are in poverty. I often hear people say that they would like to see less poverty yet they don’t do anything. This happens with a lot of things. We say things, but don’t do them, which is such a paradox!

There are so many ways to make a change like donating, telling others about problems, and researching on how you can fix a problem. I try to do some small things to make a change, it may seem small, but I know that small things count. One of the things I have been doing for the last 5 years, is to celebrate my birthday every other year. The year that I don’t celebrate, I put the money and energy that a usual celebration may cost, towards helping others. I also try to get myself involved with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in order to understand what they are and to figure out how best I can do something about them in my community. One practical way, I do this is by engaging with the Australian Social Good Summit, every year.
